Episode No: 005

Title: Boss Helal

Plot

Just as Mr. Dime is about to cancel the show, he learns that Rodney Helal's uncle, the Chairman of the Board, has demoted Mr. Dime to the cleaning man (at Miss Take's suggestion), and makes Rodney the president of the network. This happens because, as Miss Take explains, "We have kids running the show down here, (the network) thought they should have one running the show up here!"

Unable to read a phonebook-sized intro in the required 28 and a half seconds, Christine is fired, as well as Jono (for not being able to make a sunny weather forecast) and Marc (apparently, just for the sake of firing), leaving Kevin as the only kid left (and his salary is cut by eighty cents, as a result of asking for a raise). Since there aren't any kids left who are willing to work, the network loses money and fires Rodney's uncle, as well as Rodney, and everything (except Kevin's salary) is restored to how it was before.

Trivia

  • This episode contains a scene that is a sequel (of sorts) to a scene found in the 1979's Episode One and the Whatever Turns You On pilot. In that original scene, Ross teaches Jono how to make a weather forecast in front of an old CJOH weather map (which, curiously, doesn't include the Yukon as being a seperate territory) using buckets of water. In this scene, Jono is fired from the job because he predicted nothing but rain the past few days. Buckets of water are used in a similar way here, and it's on the same set.
